Dominic Darke Appointed as Group FD

Sonihull, the UK-based manufacturer of the world’s leading ultrasonic antifouling systems, continues its rapid growth with the appointment of a new Group Finance Director.

Dominic Darke FCA joins Sonihull with over 20 years of experience in recruiting, developing and leading Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Financial Control teams, covering executive positions within Environmental Support Services, Healthcare software, Financial Modelling and IT services.

“Dominic brings a wealth of experience to the team, which will be a great asset during this period of rapid growth,” says Darren Rowlands, CEO of Sonihull. “His skillset and experience are well-matched to the senior leadership team and will help steer the business on this exciting journey.”

“I’m really looking-forward to working with Sonihull,” says Dominic Darke. “As a market leader and key innovator in green tech, it will be a challenge to drive the budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes in this emerging sector. I want to help the business grow to its full potential, while maintaining a principle-focused environment that preserves the company’s fundamental values.”

“The race to decarbonise the commercial shipping sector will be a marathon and not a sprint,” noted Rowlands. “Market conditions and the Pandemic have had a marked impact, from falling freight-rates to in-water mothballing and long delays for scheduled drydocks. But, one thing remains constant, algae, weeds and barnacles are still growing on and inside ships – and we have a future-proof solution.”

“Our systems can protect hulls, pipework, cooling systems and propellers from the rigours of fouling, without the need for drydocking or expensive in-water cleaning. Propellers remain smooth, fuel consumption is reduced, CO2 emissions are minimised and cooling systems remain efficient.”
